Introductory Message
China is known for its strong family system. Arguably, the whole country could be considered as a nation-family. Traditionally, the Chinese family had well-defined roles for different family members.
This week, we are going to reflect on how traditional Chinese family values (roles of elders, parents, children) interact with modern life in China. How do the family-related policies e.g. One-Child Policy and western marital trend such as DINK (double income no kid) influence Chinese people's understanding of house, home and family.
Another interesting angel to review these phenomena - analysing the structure of a typical family from an architectural perspective - would be introduced as well.
在中国人的字典里，国和家是密不可分的。不同家庭成员所扮演的角色与承担的责任不仅反映了传统的价值观，也是理解中国政治管理模式的一种重要视角。
本周的英语角，我们来聊聊中国人家，反思家庭成员的角色，探讨不同的婚育政策（独生子女、户籍办理等）以及西方婚恋观（丁克、不婚主义等）对当代中国家庭的影响。我们还将从建筑的视角来聊聊从群居布局与家族人际关系的互动。以此来洞见“家庭”、“家园”与“住家”的内涵关系。
