This week's debate topic derives from recent news about a foreign e-bike rider reacted violently to Chinese traffic police officers triggers a heated debate. Should we treat foreigners differently when it comes to violation of rules, regulations, and laws?
Some would argue as the adage goes - treat others as you would expect them to treat you, especially when you're in a foreign country and possibly in need of assistance. Plus, foreigners are guests in our country and the way we treat a foreigner says more about us than the other person. Therefore, foreigners should be granted certain preferential treatment, even legal immunity. In contrast, some others think law is law. It is applicable to all local residents, regardless of their nationalities. What's your opinion?
This Saturday, we will hold a debate on this controversial issue and hopefully to form some clearer understanding of tolerance regarding foreign visitors and residents.
